regardless of what dyno says, who cares. the only dyno that works is the first hand experience of riding both trx or yfz. i owned a trx250r but had to sell because it got too expensive to maintain so the yfz came out and i bought it. if the trx would've come out first i would've bought it first, but not because one is better then the other. i got a friend which is a diehard honda and told me that he's owned and ridden both and says that the yfz is overall a better quad emphysising on the engine's potential. i owned two trx250r and a banshee. i could say that the trx250r always handle and ran better then the banshee, but yamaha did an excellent job in the making of the yfz.

In the people I ATV with. One of then has an 450R and another one owns the YFZ450. When they drag race 9 out of 10 times the YFZ450 wins. They also at first, exchanged drivers and 3 out 3 times the YFZ450 won. But, my 450R friend still rathers 450R he says it's easier to drive and my YFZ450 friend still rathers his YFZ450. Anyways, I can follow either of them with all of my mods done to the prairie from midrange to top end. They are fast and 250 pounds lighter!

Gabe- if anyone is paper racing it would be you. You are the one that posted the "1st truly comparable 450R vs YFZ dyno report" So you finally found a dyno report that you liked reading?? LMAO By the Way the first 5 runs are missing. I wonder if the missing runs are
1. stock 450 yamaha (man those numbers kill the stock honda, better call in the troops on the honda to get it closer)
2. stock 450r
3 piped 450r
4. piston/carb/cammed/exhaust 450r
5. piston/carb/cammed/ported/exhaust 450r
I have talked to quite a few builders that has messed around with both and the difference is usually 5 to 6 hp. I have spent time on a yamaha 450 and a pro caliber crf450 custom built quad which your buddy (dyno guy) supplied quite a few of the parts.
In my opinion the only reason a lot of guys built crf450 custom quads was because honda sold the crate motor. Last year those guys ditched them in favor of the yamaha 450. In build form the crf450 was not impressive and the QUAD MOTOR is quite a bit different and not for the good.
Maybe your buddy dynoed it with a FCR carb. lol
Most people can comprehend that the yamaha is going to rev higher and produce more HP than hondas kick start crf450 trail quad. It is hondas nature to reduce HP for quad use.
Why did you not believe any of the other dyno runs?

hey guys, picked mine up today.....and now ive had a chance to do some riding on both machines......heres my own "a$$ dyno" results........i think the yami revs maybe a little quicker, damn thing feels like a dirt bike goin across the field, but the honda pulls quite a bit harder from a start. let me put it this way......if you weigh over, lets say, 180lbs, then youll need the torque of the honda to pull your big a$$, but if you weigh under that, on top of that yami is where youll win races, because the engine wont be as strained and will be able to take advantage of its quicker revving.
i like my honda better though, because my freind already overheated his clutches on his yami (hard to keep the r's up when your blazin a trail)....and i havent yet. sorry yami guys...
i think what everyone needs to realize is that the jelly donuts yamaha riders eat and the ring dings all us honda riders eat is what is going to make the difference in whats faster....these quads are that closely matched....so anytime you go for a snack before ridin............ask yourself......"is this atkins freindly?"

CRF 450 Trail Quad? This is coming from someone who likes trying to drag race a 660R Trail Quad?! LOL!! Most people can comprehend that the yamaha is going to rev higher and produce more HP than hondas kick start crf450 trail quad.

Wrong - I spoke with Lazarus personally this afternoon, just after he finished up - as I have many times. He is one of the most straight forward people I've met when talking ATVs. He's also got a ton of experience and knowledge. I asked the question earlier, why would he skew the numbers? What does he have to gain?Gabe- if anyone is paper racing it would be you. You are the one that posted the "1st truly comparable 450R vs YFZ dyno report" So you finally found a dyno report that you liked reading??
If you want to know about his credentials, just take a look at Bill Ballance's YFZ.
If you doubt his numbers and have such a problem with them, why haven't you called to talk to him about them like I said in the last post? It seems to me you're more interested in running your mouth then finding out the facts. Pretty easy to make uninformed claims on the internet from behind a computer.
I have not seen any other dyno readings directly comparing the two that were confirmed to have the R's throttle adjusted correctly, run on the same dyno, and run with appropriate tires. Lots of people will quote numbers out of DW, or the dyno run that HMF did (HMF's problems were they used stock tires and likely an throttle that wasn't corrected, thus not allowing the 450 to attain full throttle) - heck HMF's dyno showed the 450R to only be putting out a few more HP than a stock 400EX & at this point I know that to be 100% false.
You seem pretty desperate to hold on to the false belief that somehow the TRX won't be able to compete, yet you don't have any real data to support your vehement denial of the facts.
I now have a 450R. I also have a 416EX that's built to the point that it will run right with a uncorked, jetted, airbox'd YFZ in a 300' dirt drag (confirmed by a real timing system on numerous occasions last summer, not just some impromptu meeting). I also had a Cannondale that would hang right with a uncorked, jetted, airbox'd YFZ and that same 416EX in a drag - also confirmed by a timing system. I've been racing this 416EX for years & have a very good feel for it's power level.
Granted, sometimes drag races will yeild surprising results - the 416 may surprise me and run with it, but I guarantee my 416 will NOT outrun my bone stock 450R.
What can be deduced from this? The 450R reality is much closer to what these dyno runs show than you and many other Yamaha/YFZ ****'s want to believe.
The YFZ is a good quad and has a great engine no one's denying that. However, if you have some delusion that your YFZ is going blow away the 450R's out there, you're setting yourself up for some serious disappointment.
Personally, I could really care less if the 450R does or does not develop the same power level a YFZ does - ultimately I know it's potential will be very close to the same for both engines when built - the dirtbikes tell us this. I have always considered a 450R offering from Honda to be a good base to begin from, not the perfect racer out of the box. Your insinuation that somehow I have some agenda to make others believe the 450R is more than it is, is ridiculous. In fact - the negative crap on these forums has likely played a role in me being able to obtain my 450R for a decent amount less than list & not having to be on some waiting list for an indefinite period waiting for one.
BTW, have you even ridden a 450R yet, or are you strictly postulating? Everything I've seen you post is stricky theory, and many of your "facts" have been *way* off base, or should I say, flat wrong.

I have no idea what you're talking about in that quote.By the Way the first 5 runs are missing.
There's no need to respond - I know no matter what evidence you're given, you will not admit to the fact that these two are much closer than you have been crowing about in the past. You have too much at stake, you pretty much dug your hole & now you have to defend your position. That's understood.
As I said above- if you really care about the facts, give Lazarus a call & chat with him a bit, make your own decision if you think he knows what he's doing or has anything to gain by skewing these results. If you won't even do that, I have zero respect for you and will continue to consider you an internet blow-hard. If you do & actually open your eyes and realize you maybe passed judgement to hastily, to save face you need not say anything, just stop your inane campaign against the 450R & stick to racing your Raptor in straight lines....

Gabe- if Lazurus said the earth was square you would believe it??
Here you said "Personally, I could really care less if the 450R does or does not develop the same power level a YFZ does " but then you say that Honda the best brand on earth ships the 450 with a screwed up throttle?? You also say that about the 400ex also in the past?? You had to wait and hunt for a dyno chart that appealed to you.
Those dyno runs you posted started with run number 6 and 7. What were the first 5?
You have obviously bent bent out of wack since the dyno's have been posted by others. Your buddy finally manipulates a run you like that is the one that ALL should believe cause you say he is a honest person and all the other shops and magazines are dishonest??LMAO

You really believe that your honda dealer cut the price on your unit because of what is said here?? ROFLMAO Not every one is on the intenet. That was funny. Raptors had a waiting list because that was the first HI-po 4 stroke in years. Now there are many, many choices and Honda showed up late and overcharged. Might have done better with electric start. Not every buyer is the MX pro you are.
"there is no reason to respond" LMAO, grow up
Post your buddies number i will call him monday. You get a parts discount from him? You have to post the dyno report cause you owe him a favor?
