need a little more help
have a 91 250x with a 86 350x engine in it, the problem is the oil cooler, its on there by my "custom" made hoses dont hold always and its a pain, the question...
what if I compleatly remove the oil cooler and just loop the oil line back into the engine
1st the oil cooler is all the way up front blocking some of the air hitting the engine itself, so by remove that it should let the engine get more air blowing on it, am I going to blow the thing up if I do this? should I run a special weight oil and change it a lot? we do a lot of night riding and seem to ride more in the colder months. let me know what you all think, i really need to do somthing..

thankx 4 the help

You really should keep the oil cooler on there. The motor itself doesn't have big enough cooling fins on the motor to do the cooling. Most of the cooling does come from the oil. If your hoses keep coming off try some longer hoses and clamp them on. I need to have my crank rebuilt for my ATC350X as well as a new clutch basket assembly. If you know where to get some parts for a decent price let me know.

first off use tranny cooler lines not fuel lines and flare the ends and use double hose clamps

Yeah Recon thats what I did is slightly flared the ends of the pipes and used 3/8" tranny cooler hose and used small fuel line hose clamps.. worm type clamps and have had no leakage yet.. I am working on a braided line setup for mine at the moment with crimped ends custom made by aeroquip as soon as I get it all measured out and the first working set made I will have a few copies built to sell at cost to any conversion owners.

thankx all, I have hydrolic lines that run now, they are kinda big and thick though, first they gave me a plastic ferral to go around the old copper pipe and then the nut tightens on it and tries to crimp it down but the plastic bull s##t didnt ever hold, so I went and had brass or sometype of metal one ordered, I got 6 and only needed 4, neither one fit inside of the nuts that has to be tightend around them, so they guy @ the parts store said he would "hook me up" and ended up grinding down some of the lip that they had on them, but, in the process he destroyed 4 of them, I put the 2 on, they are holding 4 now, (hit some bigger jumps and they aint leaking yet) but the 2 old plasic ones decided to pop off again, so I am going to get another 6 to make 2 and try it if it dosent work I am going postal in an autoparts store.

thankx again 4 the info!

I would keep the oil cooler on the motor. Low oil temp will mean a longer lasting motor. I have steel braided lines on the TC 405ex. I went to a local speed shop and had them match up the adapters. Total was $50 for the hose and connectors.
