Default Rancher 400 AT Speed Problems

A couple of weeks ago I asked for some feedback on my 2004 rancher it wouldnt go over 30 miles a hour, I took it in for its first service, now it is like a brand new machine ( well it is brand new). It goes about 52 miles a hour now. the dealership adjusted the throttle and re initialized the esp transmission. Im thinking they never prepared the machine at the dealership before I took delivery. Thanks to all who gave me feedback and if anyone knows of any good riding spots in southwestern Ontario drop me a note. By the way this rancher has gotton out of some freezing water holes that 660 yamaha's couldnt I love this machine next one will be a Rincon.

It's good that the dealership fixed the problem. Even though they should, I don't think that some dealers go over everything before the sale. Even though a lot of dealers don't have a problem charging for setup fees. Were you charged some kind of setup fee when you bought the Rancher?

You hear about too many of the dealers not doing their job during the pre-delivery service as they should. It is as much a part of the sale as collecting your money and I'll bet none of them have forgot to do that. We have a pretty good dealer. I found no additional adjustments necessary except after 3-400 miles I did readjust the idle speed a little. Our dealer even re-jets all their ATV's before you load them in your truck (the lowest elevation in Salt Lake is 4200 ft).

Glad to hear it runs great!

I also realized a great difference in power and speed in my machine (Rancher AT) after I received it back from the first service. I had a list of things for them to check. It runs like a raped ape now. It has plenty of power. I will be knocking on Honda dealers door when things need to be fixed. I am sure most dealers are well meaning, depends on the person setting up the machines. Not all Mechanics are created equal, not all workers are good workers either. Great to hear. Glad you joined the Rancher AT club.
