no problems at all, you might have to put some sintered brake pads on it because mine go chewed up in the sand. you can also find some 300ex's that are cheap. good luck

How do I check for bad axle bearings? Will I be able to tell by justshaking the bike from side to side?

That's basically it. Another way you can try it is to brace your foot on the rear axel hub and then pull one tire towards you and push it away from you .. if you can feel some play then they may need to be done. If you can visually see the hub shifting relative to the shaft, they probably need replacing. I dont' think it's a real big job anyhow .. and bearings are fairly affordable. You should be able to get them from ATV Chariles there in Bedford I think .. I believe it's Bedford anyway .. LOL

If you are shaking the ATV from side to side and feel some play, make sure that it's not the rear spindles playing on the axel. Over time the spindles can become loose and have some side-to-side motion wich has the same symptoms as bad bearings. Keep the spindles nice and tight. If you ride too often and hard with loose spindles you could end up stripping the spline (notched end of the shaft) and you loose drive power to that wheel then because there are no teeth to match with the spindle to make the wheels go round and round (like on the bus ) that's a mouthful .. I don't think I explained it very well. If you're confused let me know and I'll try again.
