How were your valves?
#11
I've done mine twice in the last year and both times they were out of spec, how much I don't remember. The last time they were so tight I couldn't move the rocker arm at all at TDC. I plan on doing mine every 20/25 hours. It might be overkill but it's cheaper to invest time on maintenance than money on repairs. To me doing most of my own maintaining is as satisfing as riding. Be good to your ride and you'll get years of hassle free fun, my $.02, ok bye, Mike.

What? Why are you saying that honda valves can not be laped? I am just wondering. And if your valves go tight you would be able to notice because of hard starting or it wouldnt start at all. If your bike starts easy and is not ticking then your valves should be ok. Have a little faith in honda because they do make stuff to last.

If you read the Honda service manale it said that the valves have a coating on them, if the valves are laped it removes the coating and valve failure will result. The valves go tight from wear and streach and then they burn. When the valves go tight the bike will become harder to start but by then it is to late, the damage is done.

Thanks for the information. It sounds like I better check them. Some dealers around here are saying that they never need adjusted. One dealer told my friend that "1 out of every 100 that he checks needs adjusted". I knew that they would eventually need adjusted but wasn't sure whether I would be able to tell when by the performance or sound. I plan on having the bike for awhile so I'm going to check them anyway.
