Honestly, I would rather be broke down than ride a gutless machine. A 400ex built too run with a Raptor will not be the reliable machine it once was. Any time you lean on an engine too increase power, reliability is lost.

The reason they are called CRAPTORS is because the 01 models were pieces of crap trannys were no good valves,ETC..they had all sorts of problems... And pissed off raptor owners started calling them craptors...And the name has stuck since then...

 

All Atvs have there strengths and weaknesses without exception. It just worked out that raptor is easily converted to "craptor". Also I here just as many non-honda owners call them craptors as well. Many of which are yammi fans or actually own raptors. Sometimes you hear "don't want to get beat by the ol' craptor huh" , a lot of the time it is referred to in a nickname/fond manner as opposed to overly negative. Obviously there is a slight negative connotation, but nothing serious. The raptor can be a very fast machine, but has suffered from reliability issues. Not to say that the new honda couldn't run into the same thing. who knows?????

Another thing to consider is that some of the raptor owners can be fairly antagonistic. For example: Posting in a honda forum with the sole purpose of starting a bashing thread under the guise of a question. Only to say that the quad you own will smoke the top two models of Hondas.

You have a nice machine. Enjoy it.....

Funny how I have 3 modified Yamaha's a first year 450 and have yet to have a problem out of ANY of my machines!! Also, Honda honestly earned their name from their past machines for solid reliability!! The fact is, all of those machines are made here in the states now by ALOT of LAZY people that slack on their job!! Honda's reliability is right on part with ALL the other manufacturers now!!! The same way Yamaha's Raptor earned the title CRAPTOR was started with the first year models!!! How about this? Kawasaki's new KX250F has had the most problems of a first year production MX bike that I have ever seen since I have been racing! Does that mean its a POS??? No it means the people who built it didnt test it well enough which in turn persuades people from buying it!! I am almost positive Kawi will refine their machine to where its as good as any others!!! I think all the manufacturers machines when built here, will have the same reliability as any other, just one has a reputation that people swear by today and that doesnt mean that it IS the same reliability as the others!!! Cuz actually, Honda has had 10x more problems out of their newer machines than they did a long time ago, but when honda earned that "reliable" title, they didnt have that many machines offered back then!!! I mean come on guys look at the machines we have today versus back then!!! ALOTTTT different, more advanced, more electrical, more highly tuned!! Of course your going to have problems I don't care what manufacturer makes it!!! NOBODY is going to build 1000's of 1000's of machines and not have problems!!! Ive seen many Honda recalls as well as alot from the other manufacturers!!! So its really a toss-up with with the machines!! Polaris got a BAD reputation for their machines because of problems from the past which still haunts them today, but POLARIS has sold over 1,000,000 machines and that says alot, Yamaha and Honda built OTHER Products than just quads and bikes so they got alot more RandD funds than does Polaris! But Polaris did it on their own and I am proud of them for that!!! They are VERY reliable as compared to the old days! I am a die hard Yamaha fan, but I can certainly say that Honda Yamaha AND polaris as well as KAWI/Zuki are truly about the same in reliability these days!
