The 1986 X engine mounts are very close by appearance but I have never actually tried checking to see if the are the same. Someone else here might could help you out with that part. The early X engines are capable of more power though than the '86-'87 models.
You aren't going to be able to get too radical with the engine swap because there isn't room for a bigger engine without doing some serious cutting to your frame, even with a 250X engine.
You could go with a 2 stroke engine. Plenty of room for that, but will run across a problem when it comes to building the pipe. The 200X's front down runner doesn't "Y" until it gets to the bottome of the frame. You will have to modify it to look similar to a 250R style downmember.
Don't forget about the 185/185S/200/200S/200M engines either. They don't have a clutch, but only have 1 less HP than the X model, and hop up parts are cheap to get more. The M has electric start and the same gearing as the S models and would work great in X frame. No mods needed to clear the starter. You just need to build yourself a battery box and a small tab on the frame for your extra electricals.
