I was told by a dealer to run a slightly worn set of holeshots on the rear of my 400 to get it to slide a little bit. He said that on a 250r when they get worn some they tend to not hook up, so you need good new sets. On the other hand he said that on the 400 it seems to hook up to much with a new set, can't keep the front tire on the ground, therefore the use of a slightly worn set does better. Has anyone had experiences with this, is it true? I have to get a new set of tires because I slashed the rear practicing for an upcoming race.

You might ask the other racers at the tracks you frequent; most motorsports competitors freely share information and advice.
