No, the gearing isnt fixed by changing the sprockets. No matter what sprocket you have you will still have a higher transmission gear. Not to mention that when you gear down the sprocket you will lose top end.

i havent lost in the 660 foot race to one yet except for a ported/piped one. has any one tried the duncan oversized valves for the 450r or yfz? im thinkin about havin them do my port job and throw in some of those valves too, that teamed with the sparks pipe and 14:1 piston my R is gonna kick ***

I learned something new today. The Yamaha 450 has an edge on their foot pegs to keep your feet from sliding off and Honda 450 does not. I'm taking things one step at a time. I went to a Yamaha / Honda dealership to get my first close look at the 450R. No wait! I also learned that the Honda's cheap rear skid covers more than the Yamaha's cheap rear skid. Maybe someday I'll get a chance to ride them so I can learn even more. Another reason I went in was to ask about the Raptor 350 that is supposed to come out in April. The third thing I learned was that salesmen are consistently stupid. It's not just a hit or miss thing. The salesman had never heard the words Raptor 350 until I spoke them to him. Totally clueless. I think Honda just put a so so quad out there. They could have done so much better. Like EFI and aluminium frame. For me a z400 with a big bore kit is the best you can do these days.
