Default oil type and check

I may be asking a lot here but is the oil checked the same way for all the machines in my sig (meaning insert dipstick but don't screw in)? Also with dino oil what weight oils are recommended? I have no owner's manuals. Should I stay dino or go synthetic?

For bikes with autoclutches, Honda owners manuals recommend only dino oil (GN4). For bikes with fully manual (hand) clutches, they recommend either GN4 or HP4 (a petrolium/synth blend).

Yes it is checked the same way for all Honda's as far as the dipstick goes. Some newer models with dry sump cases require a certain amount of idle time before checking, but yours are all wet sump. So you can check them any old time and get an accurate reading.

Is it really necessary to remove the right crankcase cover and clean the end of the camshaft parts and filter screen with each oil change? That's what the service manual says for my ATCs. Thanks.
