Default TRX450R VS. YFZ450

No did not say a yz450 dirt bike. I said 250 dirt bike. When I say yz, I meant yfz sorry. I just telling what happen with me, and I do'nt know what those guy I was riding around me experince was and their quads did'nt have any mods. It sounds like to me we have a few punks on this tread that just want to blast honda's. That's all right, I'll be kicken alot of puck a$$ next week when my race season starts. A Puck being some one young and who thinks he know so much you can'nt tell them a dam thing. That what some of this guys sound like to me .4 time Michigin champ,3 xc, and 1 mx. You do'nt do that smoken crack, or being rude to people you do not know. Only a puck would be rude.4 time Michigin champ,3 xc, and 1 mx. . If I'm wrong I will aplogize. No I'm aplogizing know, because no matter what, Quad riders do not need to beat up on each other we have plenty of none riders doing that for us. Buy what you want and be safe and injoy!!!!!!!!!

These two bikes are in a dead heat stock in a drag period. Even the messed up magazine shoot outs have said that. I consider it to be fact. All other weekend drags have too many variables.

I am brand new to this forum. I dont want to offend anyone but in my opinion the
Honda TRX450R was to be the "RESPONSE" to the YFZ. In that sense it was, and
untill they fix it, will be a failure. Honda has several issues they have to deal with
before the 450r will be a true competitor with the YFZ. We can start with the cam
issue. Why would you put out a single cam engine when the guy you are trying to
beat has already come out with the twin cam design??? Its a no brainer. Then you
have the RPM issue. No 9,000 range rpm machine will run with a machine that can
turn out close to 11,000. Part of honda's thoughts there had to be based on the
ability of their single cam engine to even get close to those RPMs. The valves would
float like crazy on a single cam machine at that speed. That again brings us to the
next issue....the valves. I spend alot of time at the tracks around the western U.S.
and it is a known fact that the TRX needs to have the valves adjusted about every
8 hours of riding. This is a problem it inherited from the CRF. Yet again Honda did
nothing to fix the problem. Then we get the not so common crank problems. I know
of 2 riders personally who have broken cranks in the TRX450R. Not to mention Tim
Farr himself had the same problem. No problem if you are Mr. Farr. Just get out the
back-up from the trailer and continue the day. Not for you or I....we are out for months.
Honda has yet to distrubute fly wheel pullers for this "NEW" qaud....so if you are not
able to get the puller you are not able to even get the crank out, let alone replace it.
OK OK OK...now on to the biggest hurdle that Honda wont get over. That carb they
put in this new "RACE BIKE" is a joke. Honda has a big problem here that wont ever
address due to their mandatory dual cable RULE. Yamaha has fixed this problem
with a throttle position sensor and a throttle override switch. Yet Honda is stuck
in the stone age of carbs because they wont address this issue either. I am a Honda
fan from way back and have ridden TRX250R's for years. But I have a big problem with
Honda's approach to racing. They put out a substandard quad that in the beginning
literally changed the "RULES OF RACING" with the increased motor size and then
didn't come through with a bike that even made the change worth it. Yamaha played
by the rules and created a bike that has yet to meet its match. I praise Yamaha
for their dedication to the racer and making a bike that will do what is was made for.

I've drag raced about 10 YFZ's most of them were piped and I've never been beat the races were all about 300 to 500 ft. I out weight most of the guys by at least 20lbs and all the races i won by at least 2 lenghts. In the only MX race I have raced I beat the 2 YFZ's in my class and took first and the and the YFZ's took 3rd and 9th. I just ain't seeing that the YFZ is as fast as everyone says

I rode a 450R today with a Yosh pipe and no airbox lid. Very sweet trail machine, IMO. It's a 400EX on steroids, minus the electric start. With the pipe, 180 jet and no airbox lid it's a dead even race with my Raptor up until his top speed (whatever that is?) when I pull away from him barely by maybe 3 or 4 mph.

When is everyone just going to realize that there is no clear winner between the 450r and yfz they are both great bikes and perform their inteded purposes very well. There is soooo many of these pointless threads you dont even have to read %90 of the replys you just look at the persons signature and its almost a guarantee that they will say the bike they own is far superior. just let it rest

I totally agree with u Scrambler!

BUT I feel that the honda IS in fact far superior to the YFZ if we are talking trail machines here, for that i am going to talk up the honda lol and i dont even have it YET! Sadly i have to wait unitl friday until i can see wut all the hype is really about with the 450's...
