I'm looking to buy a used 400EX and I am curious if there are certain years to steer clear of.
I believe 1999 was the first year of production.
I am looking at a 2000 .....
Any problems that the earlier years had that were worked out in the later models that I should look out for?

i currently have a 2001, and ive had no problems with that

 

personally i would scratch any 99s off the list

the swingarms had problems

2000 or better (i believe they are all the same)
