Got my new 04 Recon ES today!

Congrats.
I feel the Recon is one of the best ATVs in recent years to come from Honda. Not that the Foreman and Ranchers are bad, but those Recons are tough, handle well, light, and above all.......affordable.

 

Nothing beats the little Recon for just pure fun. I will be interested to hear how the 2wd Recon stacks up against the Rancher 4X4 out at your "Ranch". The little Recon is 135 lbs. lighter, and that counts for a lot! Don't overinflate the tires, they don't do well when to hard.

I put on a K&N and FMF MegaMax II, and it perked the little bike up quite a bit.

I'll write up a comparison of the Rancher vs Recon. Look for it in about 8 weeks.

I'll have to squeeze the time in for a run over to the 1881 Ranch (not "ranch" - the 1881 Ranch is registered by the State of Nevada) since my orchestra is booked almost every weekend between now and July and we'll be cruising to and from Alaska for 2 weeks in May. I'm not complaining though because that's what paid for the new Recon.

And thank you for the tip on "perking up" the bike. I'll likely give it a try.

Not getting to Anchorage this trip. We're cruising the Inland Passage up to Sitka and back. I'm hoping to vacation/tour the Anchorage, Fairbanks, Denali region of Alaska in August of next year.

 

ol, late august is a great time as the leaves are changing and the animals start to think about the migration and the rutting season starts so they are more visible from the roads.

I hear Sitka and Ketchikan are great places to visit and one day I will make it down there. My wife's dad was assigned to Craig back in the 70's when he was a state trooper and that is outside of Sitka I believe. AlaskaBoy.
