Got a 13 tooth sprocket for my 400ex
#11
I put it on last night. Unfortunately I will need to take out a link. Definately to much slack! Oh well! I know I will lose top end too but oh well. Most races I do are with friends who have faster bikes anyway. At least I'll start much quicker

I did have to take out on link on my chain. I took it off & put my chain back on. Got it all adjusted & took it out in the yard to mess around. I could definately tell a difference. I ran thru the gears much quicker. My buddies & I have been working on a track. I'm hoping it will get our times a bit closer. My friend on his yfz450 has me by about 5 seconds a lap. He is definately a better rider though. I think I'll close the gap a bit this weekend. I'll also get back on to let you know how much difference I really notice

A 14 tooth is a possiblility too! I just need to ride with someone to really see how much difference there is. I can tell a difference no doubt. I can't tell how much top end I lost. I also can't tell how much quicker I'll be off the line. I'm curious to see how it does on the hills too. I'm not that concerned with losing topend at this point. I will be upgrading to a 416 or a 440 this summer! That or the stars will align & I'll get the new 450r. I'd definately prefer the later

For more low end and acceleration - Use either a smaller front sprocket or a bigger rear sprocket. Down one on the front is roughly equal to going up 3 on the back.
