Fairlead mount location on Rancher
#1
Does anyone have any pictures of how you mounted your fairlead on the front bumper of a 350 Rancher? I have an idea of how I want to do it, but I want to see some pics of how you guys did it.

I used to have a winch on my Recon. The fairlead mounted on the front pushbar with two U shaped clamps that slid over the metal bar on each side. The bolt slid through the fairlead plate and then through two holes at the end of each side of the U shaped clamps. (2 holes in plate, 2 clamps, 2 bolts)
House plumbing pipe clamps might work. The type that slips around a water pipe with two bolt holes. It would need to be made a a heavier metal. Some of the pipe clamps are flimsy.

I mounted mine toward the top of the push bar location.
I ended up getting the wrong size u-bolts, so i had to buy from home-depot etc.
The mounting plate consisted of two plates. with slots on either end to make the mount wide enough.
Works well, i had to winch myself out saturday.
I LOVE MY WINCH!!!!

Check my links below for some different ideas. I've seen some that have the fairlead mounted above or below the winch wince the winch is tucked in there a bit. I always like to keep the cable running straight from the winch through the fairlead. Keeps some load off the winch.
Good Luck,

I've checked your site out before robnhouston....nice setup with the multi mount winch! I have my winch mounted up behind the headlights as far up as I could get it....so the cable will be on an angle compared to the fairlead, I didn't think that would be a problem though.

Should be OK. I just like the ability to remove the winch to keep it out of the weather (not to mention putting it on the rear). Plus where I ride if it's not wet then getting stuck is hard to do. And a walk is always good exercise.
BTW I've got the same winch set up on my Super Duty. Sometimes going forward isn't an option with a 7,000# 4x4.
