Man, sounds like some bad stuff there. I have had my 300EX for 5 years and I have two problems with mine. 1. If I ride in water the CDI box gets wet and will not let it shift into nuetral good. You can tape up the CDI box and the harness but change the tape often.
2. It will not start by just holding in the clutch. This I do not know how to fix.

I've had a lot of electric problems.

Whatever you do..take and put silcone over EVERY wire plug. That will save you a big headache after that first mud hole you hit and you stall out.

Why do the 300's and 400EX's have so many problems with the electrical???

That's all I hear from you EX owners.
What are the main problems with the electric stuff?, badd connections?, shorts?. I have an '87 Honda 200 and it has never had problems with any kind of electrical things. Ohh well I just wanted to know the reasons why the EX's have trouble with this.

i had an 87 trx250..it was bullet proof..

but i'm having a ton of trouble with my 300EX wiring. But i'm getting it straighten out.

Part of the problem is it's not wired up direct enough...all your power has to go through each box before it goes to your plug for spark.

So, if one thing goes bad. It won't run....i have mine traced down to the reverse inhibitor box. Power goes into it..but doesn't come out.....!
