I would not say it is too big. I only trimmed about 1/8 of an inch off the fenders at the bottom. You cant even tell I did it. I dont think this would have been an issue if I had done 27x10x12s in the rear.

Bjordan,

We have both a Rancher and a Recon, I think they're both fun to ride, but if my wife goes with me, I don't get to touch the rancher. Recon is fine with me though. She think's it's to squirrelly (sp?). We ride mostly through woods, making our own trails, so recon is actually better cause it's not as wide.

I am trying to get my wife to ride my Rancher more. Its a heavier steer due to the 4x4. This will help her build up some strength. Two weeks ago, she decided to go down a trail made for motorcycles, she must have been feeling invincible on the 4x4 Rancher, well she rolled the quad on its side. No damage, except some scratches, & one sprained wrist.

I hope shes not gun shy after the crash. You have to love women who want to ride. It doesn't get any better than that.

Snowshark,I too bought a new Rancher ES 4x4 and my wife had a 97' Recon. After she rode the Rancher the Recon went in the paper the very next day and
and after selling it the very next day after that, I bought her a new Rancher 2x4 ES and she loves it !! She did manage to roll it over the first time out but did not damage it at all except for a few scratches on the racks. Her only injuries were a few minor bruises. She was a little gun shy after that, but is alright now and we ride more than ever.Got to love a Woman who likes to ride ATV's.
A friend of mines wife said either the Sportsman goes or i go,and he ended up selling it to a friend.I feel really lucky having a spouse for a riding partner, she always asks me when we are going riding next and she never has to ask twice!

Bzizzi,

Yep, gotta love women ATV riders! Its been two weeks since her wreck, we are going riding this weekend.

I have a question how much of a difference in steering is there between the 4x4 & 4x2 models of the Rancher?

Are the rear tires on the 4x2 larger than on the 4x4?

thanks

According to the Honda web site they do have different size tires. Th4 4x4 has 24x9x11 and the 2x4 has 25x11x10.

Our first quad was the recon and I had an old Polaris. I sold the trail boss and got a warrior. I found the Rancher used at such a good deal I had to buy it, but I told my wife that it was her's(had to close the deal somehow). Well she took that quite seriously and really gives me a hard time about riding it. "Your'e crazy and your gonna tear it up." I'm proud of her though she loves to ride. Kinda sexy really, my muddy little wife!

I agree my girlfreind loves atving, she can't get enough she actually asks me to take her , like it is a bother! I tell her all the time just ask I would live On my atv if I could, I am going to buy her one next season. Had an old girlfriend tell me that i was not a grown up becuase I liked atving and snowmobiling. She made her current husband sells his Wildcat, his Ninja 1000 and his Honda Foreman! If i was given that choice my SP500 or her , well lets just say the SP would win!

Xepathfinder,

Heck, I am 39 & I refuse to grow up. I like my toys! Why grow up, its not that much fun. Your only as young as act.

I am glad my wife likes to ride! You know there is something to be said about a woman in a wet, Uhhh I mean muddy T-shirt.
