I wouldnt take the lid completly off.. I found a better way that works very well without having alot of trash in your airbox.. Take a coffee mug put in on to (toward the rear)use a marker and circle the bottom of the mug then take a 1/8 drill bit and drill holes about every 1/2"on that marker line then a couple hole in the middle of that circle..I did that and put a 155 main jet in and you can tell a difference...Hope that helps

if you dont have your EX jetted then takin the lid off will only hurt your power, it messes up the whole gas/air mixture thing, a 155 main sounds good, then take the lid off...but i would also suggest a k&n filter with the precharger to keep dirt and debris out

I'll just leave it on there.... save me the money seeing how it sounds like i'm not going to get that much of a power difference.

It is very easy to do and costs under $100 easy...I would buy a K&N with the outerwear(a skirt that goes over the filter to keep dirt and water out) $40-$50 for filter and a 155main jet $5 holes drill in air box Priceless..lol...It will make a big difference in your Throttle response and power..It is worth it....

Keepitpinned...I went though alot od mud and water this weekend and have maybe a couple of drops of water.. not enough to do anything...NOTE.. I would suggest a K&N and outerwear prefilter (the prefilter will also help with any debris that would get in through the holes).. Also a pair of pantyhose over the lid will help with mud and water from getting in.. Sounds funny but it works...

If you get a k@n air filter and prefilter is rely the only time you sould take your air box cover.......or jet it but the stock air filters are not good enough to stop all the dust and dirt.
