I wanted to know what the differnece was between the exhausts that curtis sparks sells-
Sparks Racing TRX 400EX exhaust X-6 - ceramic $489
Sparks Racing TRX 400EX exhaust X-6 w/ spark arrestor - ceramic $549
Sparks Racing TRX 400EX exhaust X-6 Stainless Steel $519

what exactly does a spark arrester do, do you need it? Why isnt the ceramic more then the stainless steel, the stainless steel is chrome?

The stainless steel is what it is. Stainless steel. A more expensive metal ( don't rust). The ceramic coating uses different metal, a shop ceramic coats them. It's not chrome. The spark arrestor is needed for people that ride in a area that require a spark arrestor,. Your basicly paying for the spark arrestor. That's why it's more. The stainless steel is the best if you don't mind a discolored look on your pipe. ceramic coated is the best if you want the polished look. although it will dull over time & you'll need a shop that does ceramic coating to polish it for you. Don't try buffing it, You'll take the creamic coating off. If you ride in the woods, You will want a spark arrestor. It keeps you from shooting sparks out that are flammable

you have to get the spark arrestor when you order the pipe. if you want one, it should be installed when you get it. however, i am not sure if you can get a spark arrestor for every model pipe. the ceramic tends to rust too. it may not be the ceramic, but the metal of the pipe used. my friends starting rusting a decent amount only after 1 month. i haven't had a rusting problem with my stainless. however, the ceramic keeps heat in better so you might see slightly more power. the sparks pipes you can't get in chrome unless you have them done after you buy the pipe.
