1Bad- Believe only half of what you hear. I owned a 250r and sold it so I could buy a 450r. True a modded 250r is most peoples dream, heck it was my dream too, however if I were to invest the same amount of money into the 450r it would run circles around the 250r. Alot of "people" complain about the front end being to lite, I quess this is personal opinion, and in my opinion it is BS. How can it have to tall of a 1st gear that requires alot of clutch work and also be to easy to wheelie????????? IMO this statement is laughable. Your right the Yamaha is less cc's and has more power, but did you know that it also has a higher compression rating. I think it is 11:1 where the Honda is 9 or 9.5:1. It doesnt sound like alot but in reality it is. Also the 86-87 250r swinger was 1" shorter than the 88-89 and not many people complain about it hmmmmmm. Maybe the reson it is more noticeable on the 450 is because it produces more power. There isnt alot available for the 450r yet but give it a few more months and it will be on equal ground with every other quad. Already you can get cams, exhausts, carbs, suspension, Pro flow kits, hi rev cdi boxes, & big bore kits. Gosh come to think of it there isnt alot else to come out for it. I am not trying to argue your statement, I just believe that people are being a bit to harsh. If the YFZ is the only quad better than the TRX than I think that is pretty cool given all the so called performance quads out. Seriously try riding one, adjust the suspension to your liking, heck gear it down if it suits your fancy, I think you'll agree that those who bad mouth it truely dont have any ground to stand on.

As I recall in 85-87, The big three all made 250cc three wheelers. Kawasaki's were always the fastest, even when they came out with the tecate 4. So why didn't they get to legendary status like the r's, why aren't they still being raced like the r's, why isn't there as many try-z's being ridin as old atc 250r's? Because the honda's had the better frame geometry and most important they were the most RELIABLE!!! Nobody's gonna know which is better for a few more years I think, Yea the yfz is faster, Yea I want one of them. But when I look at either I think of the 80's. I want to get the right one. In a couple of years I will get the one that, after investigation proves to be the more intellegent purchase. Until then I will ride what I got or put together a banshee.

Ok the yammi is a die hard race quad That costs quite a bit more than the honda. Take the money u saved when u bought the honda and put that into the suspension or in the kit that they sell for it. You can make it just as competitive as the yammi. The yammi just has better stuff on it in "stock" form than the honda does. I would LOVE to see a honda and a yammi go head to head with the EXACT same things on it. like exact same suspension, pipes, tires, and all that stuff. That would prove who is da bomb.
40% quad
60% rider!

1BAD, I quess I got the years mixed up. I hope this thread helps you to get another perspective on the TRX.
Yaaa, Isn't it just a matter of personal opinion on wheather or not the yamaha is better equiped than the TRX in stock form. Personally I think the Showa's have plenty of adjustability to them. That is of course you have more money than you know what to do with. With the money saved on the TRX a person could buy a pipe, cam, tires, pro flow kit, etc. My personal first couple of purchases will be a pipe, cam, pro flow, and high compression piston.
OH YEAH AND GUYS MY DAD IS BIGGER THAN YOUR DAD, AND MY KID IS SMARTER THAN YOUR KID. Lets all enjoy the current state of the game instead of continuing to bicker. Nevermind that thought that would be boring.
Hey why is the guy ridin a Raptor laughin at us, did I miss something

Could you guys get off of bad250r's ***. It sounds like he is a Honda guy that want's Honda to do well. He has made some valid points for being one that has not owned the 450R. Yes it does come up slightly if you are pulling on the bars, it does this because of the short swingarm and the tractor like powerband. This is not a bad thing, just a fix that needs to be done to drag race or hole-shot better. Shackatack, you stated, "yes, the YFZ is faster", are you bashing the 450R? Because it seems like you do not own one either. I think that bad250R has heard and seen some things and wanted an answer from those 450R owners that have raced the YFZ. I have "straight line" raced about 14 yfz's and have raced from a roll and from a stop. It seems like they are "geared" better from a dead stop and have a very, very, very, very, very slight top end advatage in HP. The fact is that if you put a slightly lighter OR better rider on the TRX450R, he will beat the YFZ, IMO. They are VERY close in all aspects, I think this debate is actually good for the HONDA aftermarket. As for the reliability, chassis and overall potential, who knows, I will place my bet on the HONDA from what I have seen. And yes Shacatack, you made a valid point on the comp. ratio, if the Honda had 1-2 pts more comp. then I would think the bottom and mid would match the YFZ. Let me leave badass250r with this final analysis..... Go buy the TRX450R. This is coming from a 30 yr old guy that has owned a banshee, 500 quadzilla and an 88 250R.

Speedbump, if you read what I posted before all of this little-girl-bickering started you will note I personally said nothing bad about the 450R. Simply bexcause I have not ridden one. I just relayed what I have read on other threads and in magazines and some people get so defensive. It's like you can't even have a civilized debate on one of these things because people take too much personal odffense.
