I am considering buying a rancher es 4x2. I am wondering how well they perform on small hill climbs how good they ride on the trail. Any information would be helpful. Also what is the top speed?

you'll be very pleased with the rancher. i have a 2000 rancher 4x4. they have plenty of power and are a blast to trail ride. good luck

i have owned a 4x2 rancher since november of last year. i previously rode the trx 300 4x2. there is no comparison between the two. the rancher pulls hills, you often as not will find yourself upshifting and gaining speed as you go. with the old 300 you often would have to down shift on a hill to pull it. when i first got my rancher i couldn't wipe the silly power grin off my face for about the first two weeks of ownership. the 4x4's are ok, but the 4x2's are a lot more fun to ride. hope this helps.....

You'll like it. I love mine, unfortunately, I have this silly need to be able to do everything the others do, but faster. Therefor, the Rancher turned out not to be the perfect quad for ME.

If you just want to trail ride, climb small hills, and moderate mud, you will like the Rancher. If you want to do it all, faster than anybody else, get a 500 Scrambler 4x4.
