Default Quadzilla

Ok I am a die hard Honda fan but some friend of our are selling a 1987 Lt 500R Quadzilla. 90% restored, rebuilt engine, powercoated frame, new shocks, new Meier plastic, new front tire and extra back rims with paddles. $4000. I am not going to buy it but i was just wondering if it was a good bike and how fast it runs? I've only seen this quad once and I wasn't really into sport quads so it wasn't that cool at the time. So any thoughts??

they are beasts!!top speed stock is 78+.so it will deffinately be faster than that if it has some mods.they are torque monsters.you can be at an almost stall in 3rd and blip the throttle and send the front end skyward.very powerful machines.they are a 2 stroke so they do need top end rebuilds from time to time.the 87's had one less head stud than thte 88+.the compression was blowing head studs.that sounds like a fair deal.in stock form no other quad can touch it.

Stock top speed is 80 mph, they are rockets. I would be cautious because i have heard they are a hand full to keep running, i heard this from the owners.

WOW!! I like Honda riders!! Not even a bash!! The 87's are actually a little faster up top than the 88-90's because of a larger reed cage design. Unfortunately, it spit too much unburnt fuel out into the ozone and some people didn't like that, so Suzuki made the cage a little smaller. And I would have a hard time spending $4000 for a 17 year old machine. Of course, I probably wouldn't sell mine for under 4 G's either....
