89 Honda TRX 300 Starter question
#2
No, the EX starter will not work.
The only other starter motors that interchange with the TRX300 are the 1987 ATC250ES BigRed and 1987 TRX250
Be sure not to confuse year models either if you find a 250 starter.
The TRX300 uses a longshaft as does the 1987 250 BigRed and TRX, but the 1985-1986 models use short shafts, and all the 250SX models regardless of the year use a shortshaft model as well, so forget 250SX starters.

You seem to "know alot". Can you tell me how to remove the electric starter from my 86 Fourtax 350? I have it unbolted but there is no room to remove it. Do I have to pull the side engine cover off? Email direct to bww@charter.net

I did take that small cover off. Inside were two rods with about 5 gears on them. All of this came out as well. But still. The side engine cover surrounded the small gear at the end of the starter leaving me no room to pull it out. I'm stumped! Thanks for the suggestion though.
