Default 450R Lowering Kit??

I am somewhat new to quads but, as you may have seen in another post I did buy a 450R.

I love the quad! it simply rocks! But, I have read that people think it's center of gravity is to high... While looking on ebay for some mods for my 450R I found a lowering kit ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=46093 )

According to the ad on ebay: "This kit will lower the front of your Honda by 3" and make it 1 1/2" wider. With this kit installed your center of gravity is much lower allowing you to corner faster. It is very durable. Perfect for flat track, TT, trail riding, or drag racing."

So my question is what do you guys think?? Worth it, or not?? Would it help or hurt??

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Take a close look at what this "kit" is doing! It's changing the location of the bottom of the front shock mount, actually moving it further out causing your shocks to be "stretched" out. All that will achieve is to lower the front of the quad, it does nothing to the rear of the quad which will be at the same height. You're front end geometry will be all out of wack and you'll probably hate how your quad handles, especially if you do any jumping with it. If all you are interested in is lowering the front end of the quad and you don't care how it handles then it might be worth the money.

Thanks for the info... I think I'll avoid it for now.

If you wanna lower get smaller tires. If you wanna lower it but keep relatively the same gearing, then put smaller tires and change the spockets. I think that would be your best bet, because the back can not get any lower without changing tire size.

Is the rear end really as difficult to slide around on the R as everyone makes it seem like? It just doesn't sound logical that a high-performance racer won't slide willingly.

Default 450R Lowering Kit??

I haven't had any problems getting the rear end to slide around on my R.

I did go ahead and buy a 13 tooth sprocket for the front of my R and I went to install it but, I had some questions that I posted in another topic on this site so if any of you could help I'd appreciate it.

HELP! Replacing front sprocket on TRX450R
