Default Axle Problem

I didn't have time in my previous post to type my problem but here it is. I have a 1984 Honda Big Red 200es. I have to change the front tire and cannot get the axle off. I took the hex nut off the left side but the axle will not come out. There is no rust or corrosion so I know there must be something that I am not doing right. Can anyone help me? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Terry

There's rust and corrosion, you just can't see it. I remember epic battles removing front axles on 84 Big Reds. They are prone to getting stuck, mainly where they go through the brake panel. About the only way to remove them is to heat the brake panel with an oxy torch where the axle goes through it. Usually I could get them out with only discoloration of the brake panel, and rethreading of the axle, but there were times when the only way was to wreck parts. Good luck.

Thanks for your reply dzzy. I have a torch so I will give it a shot in the morning. Should I heat the fork where the axle goes through?

As I recall, the main problem is where the axle goes through the brake panel.
