Default Rancher Winch?

Need info on winches not the female kind. Other than the Honda dealer can someone recommend a place to buy a winch? How much money am I looking at? Does the weight of the winch make it harder to steer?

Thanks,
45ACP

Check out my links for some ideas on a multi mount system. For the winch have a look at this?

go to www.harborfreight.com
on the left click on "Order From Printed Catalog"
enter item# "90282-1UYH"

It should bring up a special winch kit for $49.99. Complete. My web links show what I added to make it better. Since I don't use a winch a lot the el-cheap-o one works for me. As seen on the web site I mostly use it for my boat. Beats paying $400+ for a Warn.

The weight doesn't add that much to the steering, espeically when I have my winch on the back.

Good Luck,
Rob

I would check ebay or different dealers. I have a 99 grizzly and I bought a warn winch from the artic cat shop. The yamaha shop wanted $425 for the yamaha winch. Where the cat shop wanted $279 for the same winch that said warn and artic cat on it. No one can even see the winch . This came with a bracket that I made work for mine. also included the roller fairlead. Dont go with the cheap winches you get what you pay for. Super winch and others are supose to be junk. Get at least a #2500 warn or ramsey and do it right the first time. When you get stuck you will be glad you did. Theres alot more weight when your stuck then you think.

I got mine from Cabelas Never had a problem with it. Able to pull out some cemented it posts with it. Of course my work paid for it. I do not reccomend superwinch as I have a few friends with them and they have snapped the cable or the winch would just quit working. Winch mount and fairleads kit are about 60 bucks from Cabelas.

45acp,

Check your local trailer parts stores, I found up here in the spring they run deals on them, not sure if it is the same in the states. Warn 2.0 are nice but the extra capacity of the 2.5 would be better for the heavier machines. Superwinch/Tusk nothing but problems.

As for turning you will not even notice it, winch should add about about 30 pounds or so and you probaly carry more then that on your front rack.

Price wise your going to see around 350 the norm and there is always that find of one cheaper but that is the normal price when you check shops locally. I would suggest that you get a roller fairlead rather then the Hawse if you want to be able to winch sideways otherwise your cable will not last long. Try to find the winch with the roller include because if you decide later it wil cost 35 to 40 bucks to get it.

Most people never use their winch but it is nice to know it is there when you do. I have used mine to get unstuck, help other people get unstuck, winch moose out of mudholes and even pulled a Jeep out once. AlaskaBoy.
