Default 400ex mechanics advice needed

I have a 400ex that is now a 460 and the head has been flowed, oversize valves, dmc pipe, stage two hot cam and my 416 kit would definetly walk away from it. I was just curious about the hot cam and any suggestions

All you did was go from a 416 to a 460 kit?

Have you done a compression test?

I have had it built for alcohol so it is 14.5:1 and the valves have only a little bit more than 45 thou. of clearance. I have also got the carb(39fcr) dialed in at main a 170 and pilot is a 48 the neelde sits 3 clips from the top I think it is center soooooooo. I was messin' with the cam to degree it a little but the valves become too close to the piston. And when setting the clearance on the what should it be set at?

If I were you I'd call someone like Kenz Cycles or For Dirt Only and talk to them about your clearence issues. I would have to say that .045 is to close. I'm currently having a new head with over sized valves and a 16:1 piston installed in my DS and the intake clearance calls for minimum .060 on the intake and .080 on the exhaust. I would think that the EX clearances might need to be a little larger than the DS for the EX is air cooled which produces more heat and would have more thermal expansion than the water cooled DS.
