I know I'm kinda jumping in in the middle here but I have a fully modded '86 250R and I would not trade it for any of the brand new quads out there. Just keep searching and the bike that is meant for you will show up and you'll love it. I bought mine 4 years ago in mint condition from an old man who let it sit for 10 years. It was mostly stock except for a rebuilt engine, black plastics, nerfs, and a Lonestar swing-arm and I got it for only $2,300! And that was back when a nice 250R wouldn't go for any less than 4 grand! The point is don't buy the first 250R you see for sale. I've got friends that paid twice as much as me for their R because they didn't shop around and their's is a complete basket case. Take your time and find the right bike that was unabused. I got a great bike that was taken care of and fires on the first kick for only $2,300...you can too if you'r patient.
