I bought an 04AT and I like it a lot. I went through more than my bud's Polaris 700 Twin EFI. Get a 26" tire upgrade though for sure. You'll be glad you did. I think the AT has pretty good low end actually. The auto is not for mudding and trail riding though. You need to use ESP for that, switch between 1 and 2 back and forth to keep the wheels going. If you are trying to get good accel, use the ESP as well, you can shift at higher RPMs. That' what I found out with the AT, it really needs RPMs to get max power.
It's a good machine, I think I'm getting an '05 Rincon though for myself.
By the way, I got mine for $5500.

Spud, the Vinson is the ATV I'm soon to be getting, not trading off. I'm trading my 01 Quadrunner 250 4x4. It was a good quad but it lacks what I need (ground clearance, power, and looks, very ugly ATV). I'm 14 now and working and I really don't want to spend money on stupid useless stuff so I figured I would update my quad for when I go mudding for a month in southern Arkansas in about a week. I hope the Vinson is what I expect!

I thought I should reply to this. I have one of each machine. Honda would be better machine for yard work... the Eiger is better for trails. Having said that , the Eiger might be better for pushing snow with the low range or hauling heavy loads.
Both machines are well built and reliable although I have had issues with the Honda.
All I can say is that the Eiger is a way more fun, faster, more powerful, rides better, more stable, climbs hills better , 2 inches more ground clearance, bigger tires....and I could go on. Price wise, there is no comparision either.
The one hidden advantage believe it or not is that the Eiger does not get dirty all over like the Honda, so it is a little nicer to keep clean. I have ridden both machines approx 1000 miles in last 6 months over snow, mud, etc. I think the one article refferred to had it nailed pretty good.
My wife on the other hand likes the Honda better because the Eiger feels a bit too agressive for her, so you might find some opinion differences there. Everyone else who had a chance to ride our machines picked the Eiger.
Good luck with your purchase.
