Default rancher speedo question

I just bought a new rancher es last week.I took it on a atv trip last weekend. The speedo reads 57 miles. The problem Im seeing is my Polaris only showed 39 miles given the same amount of time on the trail.Do Honda speedos read fast?If so by what percentage. It would be a pain to only have 600 miles on the bike and the speedo reads 1000.Thanks. Scott.

Did the ride seem more like 57 or 39 - could the Polaris be wrong - or set in kilometer mode if it has that option?

39 miles felt about right.Definately not 57.Thats a pretty good difference.I was told by the honda dealer that their motorcycles speedo were incorrect.Didnt know if this applies to atvs also.Scott

Gosh - that is way off - I agree, you shouldn't have to live with that.

Do you have or know anyone that has a GPS - you could ride one day and get an accurate milage from that. Or if you can measure a distance somewhere with a car then the ATV. If it is way off and still under warranty I'd take it back and say, hey a little off is ok but this isn't acceptable and see if they would replace it - it could be that the one you have is just way out of whack.

As you can see in my sig I have 2 Rancher ATs but just got them last weekend so I have not ridden them much yet. I'll pay close attention to see how close they register on mileage to each other and also use my GPS and report what I find.

Good luck.

Hey Fred - both my ATVs measured exactly the same - and the GPS measured 16.3 miles vs 17.2 on the ATVs.

So it looks like mine are registering an extra .65 miles per 10 miles. So yours is measuring way off from that error rate - and like I said, both my ATVs measured identically.

Hope this helps
