Sparks
#1
I do mostly woods and trail riding, but some tracks every now and then. Should I get the Sparks x4 or x6? I plan on doing some minor motor mods later. Is there anywhere else to get a spark arrestor for either of the pipes? Paying $60 more just for the spark arrestor seems like a load of bulls***.

actually this sounds weird but he beats me worse up top than down low. the power comes on sooner down low. it isn't all that much. however, it starts screaming when he hits 4th. it just seems like my pipe is too dang big in the upper gears. i am not sure.

yes, sparks says the x-6 works better on a motor with any internals in it. however, i am wondering if that is not the case. the x-6 definately won't have the torque the x-4 has. believe me, the x-4 will gain good top end power too. i know they say mainly for low end but i would say you notice more top speed than low end with the x-4. here are my friends and my setups:
mine: x-6 stainless steel, stage 2 hotcam, 10.8:1 406 ross, filter, jets
friends: x-4 ceramic, stage 1 hotcam, 10:1 406 wiseco, filter, jets
our jetting is very similar so i know that isn't an issue.
speeddemon, here is what you need to do. look where the throttle cable goes into the housing on the handlebars. pull back that black rubber piece. adjust that nut and bolt so that you only have about 1/4 inch of slack in the throttle lever. don't go much tighter or the throttle will be too tight but don't go much looser or you will loose power. what happens is that these throttle levers are loose from the factory and the carb isn't opening up fully when you floor it. this will help out big time if it isn't adjusted properly.
