This is the best one yet! Honda automatics are consistently having electronic problems. Wake up and smell the coffee!

Maybe someone won't buy one (like me!), and Honda will finally pay attention to their problem! The magazines hinted at it in the Rancher ES shootout. They had 3 machines with ES that failed! Maybe Honda will have to wake up and pay attention.

Honda built its reputation for reliability on the back of good old solid machines like the 300 ute. The autos aren't even in the same league as the indestructible old 300. No way am I going to keep quiet!

Do you mean it will not automatically downshift or will not manually downshift, using the ESP buttons?

Aren't the shifter buttons and the headlight control in the same housing on the left side? I would bet there is a short of some kind going on??? Take the housing apart, and check for crossed up wires.

rancher2000,

I have been having the same problem with my 2004 rincon. The only time mine does it is when it gets wet. I just took it in for service. My brother let his daughter ride it and she ran in to him on his grizzly. She's not hurt bad ,but the rincon didn't fair to well. Anyway, they are going to look at the electrical for me. If they find it I'd be glad to let you know what they found.
