Rancher vs. Rubicon / Mud Performance
#1
I was just reading another post and I thought that it was a little scary. People are reporting that the Rancher is better in the mud than the new Rubicon! Is this the truth?
So far there have been posts about Rubicons that won't move, and squeeling bypass pressure relief valves. Would somebody who owns one or witnessed one in action please set the record straight.

the new rubicon: there are two of them that ride with us on Sunday and I don't mind saying i'm impressed. i've seen one with 27" vamps slinging mud and go through holes that a 450 with 27" vamps and built couldn't go through. I have yet to see one of them bog down but they are new so how they will hold up remains to be seen

The only problems I have seen with the Rubicon are operater errors. (In the wrong transmission mode)
BUT, I have seen Ranchers outperform the Rubicon in the Mud races, but that can always be atributed to rider skill.

I have ridden with a Rubicon through mud holes some of which were 30 feet long. There was no comparison between the two. The Rubicon has more power. While riding, I never heard the Rubicon "load up" or squeal as others have mentioned. There is no replacement for pure old horsepower!

We have both, NO comparison, the Rubicon is much better in everything, not just mud. Might add we have 27 inch Vamps on it and never had any of the problems reported. Just the opposite. Plenty of power seems to me. Maybe some people need to read manuals or learn to buy something their smart enough to run. (just a joke!!!)

Well I'm impressed with the power of our Rubicon. It gives my 300EX a hell of a run for its money. I think the problem is knowing what drive mode it should be in. If you need all the power the engine's got, put it in low and esp, and then you can shift gears as you need them.

Not really on topic but how well do the different automatic modes work. One keeps the engine in the max torque range, the other in the max power range. What if you're just putting around? We do a lot of riding through woods with a gps, no real trails, just trying to find trees we can squeeze between. GPS says our avg speed is like 2mph. Just wondering what the Rubi does then.
