my buddy has a recon 250 and he says its losing power. it used to run fine and held its own no it doesnt seem to have that same kick ... any solutions?

Go with the basics first. Check the air filter, and clean and reoil. Check the spark plug. If its abnormal, black or oily, or dry and white, the jetting needs help. If the gas is older than 2 months, flush it and try fresh gas.
