i was just saying.

I think a lot of other utility quads would be all over it. I wasn't saying you can't but there are better quads to start racing on. You can pick up an 87 250x for under 1,500 and have a nice racer!

I do agree that they are a nice quad. Good mudder, handles nice and lightweight.

In our New England series we have a Utility Class. Usually a Scramble wins but all kinds of 4x4’s show up. It looks like those guys are having more fun than 250r’s and 400ex’s by the smiles coming around the track.

Some of the 4x4’s will not even take off the winch and towing strap! Not to mentioning watching some of these guys try the larger jumps is a riot. Those things sound like they are braking apart with a few feet of air. But they keep on ticking.

As far as I am concerned, if you can ride you quad down a trail, then it is ready to be raced. I have no clue on the recon and how sporty it is, nor do I really care. But if you like riding your ATV, then you will like racing it…. if you like to race.

Riders win a race, but the quad will help. But racing is like riding a trail, or hitting a mud hole. You can push yourself to be the best, or you can go out there and just have fun.

The reason I'm going to race my Recon instead of buying a 250x to race is becasue I can't afford to get two seperate quads. I'm not going to sell my recon because to get a 250x (or any other sport quad for that matter) you can't go through mud, pull people out of mud, or ride on the road in my area (it has to be clasified as a utility vehicle). I hope you understand why I want to race my recon, and not a sport quad. MAybe when I turn 16 and get a job I can have both types, but I'm only 13 and can't get a job for another 2 years so I have to wait. The recon is a whole lot diferent than the trx250 that you used to have. It's lighter, faster, and has a tighter turning radius.

I asked the same question?
This past weekend I raced my Recon in the Utility class of a MX race at the local fair. It was the first time I have ever raced. I qualified for the main and finished 8th overall out of 17. I wish I had been in better shape. I got very tired in the main or I think I could have done better. I am also a little big for my Recon. 6 ft & 190 lbs. A younger, smaller rider like yourself could probably do even better if you are a good rider.
My Recon is bone-stock. In the heat race and the main, I never got the holeshot, but I was always somewhere in the middle. I'll have a little more power, better suspension, and some different tires for the race season next year.
Good luck in your racing

Faster?

My 250 would turn out 56! That freaking thing would move out.

Plus it had a double low.

My uncles friends cousin, has a recon and we went out riding. Never raced him. But i was always out front with mine and tearing up more mud than he was.
