What is this and is it worth buying? ---how much?

yes, switches from full time 4x4 to 4x2 with a manual lever, around 230 on ebay

Make sure when you install the cable, you leave as much straighter cable as possible and certainly no kinks. I'm having difficulties with mine because I think I have too much of a curve coming from the handle going into the plastic where it goes back to the driveshaft.

yea long bend works best, i have the cable loosly secured on mine, although goblin you prolly would have better luck engaging from a get go, it won't engage in 2 wheel sittin still

No, I've tried all the tricks in the book. There's either something wrong with it or there's too much tension on the cable somewhere. I'll check it out sooner or later, but just haven't yet. For some reason, if you lift the front tires just off the ground, it'll work fine.
