So what's the top-speed possible of a bone stock 86 250R with a flat left-front tire, a dirty stock airfilter that is so plugged the exhust looks like a coal burning locomotive, almost outa gas, sprockets worn out to where they look like the ridges on a siver dollar, a loose stretched out chain, stock knobbies that have been worn smooth with at least 7 plugs holding in the air and 3 or 4 flopping around inside the tires, huh? I just gotta know!! I'm writin' a book!

your 250r will most likely go faster than my recon will go! But, i don't care. Since my front brakes are gone I can't slow down anyway.

I got the 400ex because i think it is the best for where i ride which is lots of trails and tons of woops and i want to get better at jumping. I had a blaster before so my 400ex which is 4 months old is my first step into the High performance world and i am so glad i got the Honda instead of a Banshee i almost got. If i lived out West i would have a Banshee for the dunes but here in East i think the 400ex is the perfect bike.

I was in the same situation as danyeo. I had the choice between a Banshee and the 400ex I bought. I got the 400ex becuase I jump a lot and I ride a lot of trails. If there were a lot of open stretches around me, the Banshee would be mine. But, not much open area to ride on.

The rider does not make the ATV better by his abilities.

Gary, ohhh. and how do you know this???

I beat my friend on his 300ex, he had for about 3 months, on my neighbors 95 220 bayou...

AN XR80 BEATS A BAYOU!!!

believe me, the rider abilities have alot to do with the "betterness" of the quad

I agree also, not everyone cares how fast and atv goes. for me my main concern is 4x4, comfortable and some power to carry my girlfriend and I around on the trails. Jumping, track racing ability and how long a wheelie I can hang is useless to me. But it is a must for some. I used to have a Warrior and my concerns were different, I had no use for 4x4 , room for two and mudding capabilities. my needs were speed, how fast from a to b was what I was looking for. I do believe there is perfect atv for an individual, it is really not a one size fit all deal in the atv world.

I will disagree with you on this. I'm just a guy that rides for fun and only fun. I wanted to become a better rider. I finally hooked-up with a great group of people, many of whom are older than me. Come to find out, they're all ex-desert racers. One friend is 11 years older than me. My 250R has much more power and is faster than his, yet when he's in the mood to kick ***, I can't keep up with him thru the Glamis Dunes! I can barely keep him in sight. Definitely, the rider and their ability make a tremendous difference.
