300ex not starting now
#1
Well I went to start up my quad. Pulled in the clutch and press in start, so I hear buzzzzzzzz than pop! I heard that with how much comprsesion they have been known to blow starters, so I took off the starter, removed all the gears and they looked fine. So I contacted a site and he told me to look at my one way, so I open up my left crank case cover, after removing the reverse lever, and all other required parts. At this point everything looked fine but I noticed everything scooted foward which made the starter miss the one way, so I pushed it all back, and closed the crank case seeing if this would be the differnce. I plugged back in the 2 electrical connections and went to start it. Nothing, so I went to get a battery jumper that has a charge and tried seeing if my battery was dead it still didn't start with a battery jumper on it. Im wondering if it has something to do with a reverse lever. I didn't play around with it though is the thing so I don't know why it would do that.

Ummmmm I know you get a buzz noise out of the starter with a almost dead battery, the starters are honestly tanks, but if your bike is really well used I guess it could be something wrong with it. The pop noise is weird though. dunno what else to say. They bum start fairly easily, but that isn't really very fun

Headlight is removed, and checked fuses already. The thing is now its not even doing anything. Before the starter would just free spin, now its doing nothing. You will press the start button and it does nothing.

I had a similar problem...but mine was wiring, and my solenoid was bad, it was the exact same problem you stated, after puting a test light screwdriver into the one of the wires and pressing the ignition button it started...but I dunno...Sorry man
