Upgrades for 400ex
#31
well, honda400rider is correct, its best to learn what the machine can do. if this is not your first quad then i'll shut up, but to be honest, mine came jetted, minus spark arrestor and an HMF pipe, plus i have a skid plate group and some other goodies. Its more than enough for me, when i nail it i can't keep the front end on the ground even going through gears. Just be careful and do one mod at a time.

i know exactly what he means by not having enough power. when i had my 400ex (pipe, came, re-jet, paddles) i couldn't keep up with my buddies. if the suspension would have let i would have been pounding through whoops in 5th gear instead of 4th. i ride dunes though, so its a lil dif but that doesn't matter. i would suggest that you start with an exhaust pipe. you would be better off getting a full system than just a silencer if u can afford it. LRD makes an incredibly fast accelerating exhaust. also get a high flow air filter or a Pro Flow kit. next is a cam and then u might wanna port and polish. next step is boring it out. hope that helps, and jus ignore all the jerks in here.

Yeah. Im hoping honda comes out with a 650r or ex . If they do im sellin my 400ex and getting a new quad with a little more power instead of putting a lot of upgrades on it. I hope it has reverse. If not no big deal. I dont use it a lot but when you do its a pain.

Wow...i came to this forum because the other forum i was on all it was was people trash talking other people when they ask a simple question...anyway first for the original post i have to say if you want more power i would go procicut casue i love those pipes and then i would add K&N and re-jet it...as for being loud dont go loud it just closes places to ride...just my 2 cents...
