5W40 is a nice all around weight. If it's real how, 20W50. Real cold, 0W30

I run Honda GN4 10W-40 in the cold seasons, and 20W-50 in the hot months. Pretty much what your owners manual recommends. Here in So. Calif., it doesn't get that cold in winter (days in the 70's and nights in the 50's), so it isn't necessary to run any really light winter weight oils.

Whatever you use, use synthetic. Dead dinosaurs are for museums. Amsoil Formula 4-stroke is the best.

Misplaced owner's manual, I really appreciate the feedback. It doesn't get too cold here in the South - thanks again!

DO NOT USE SYNTHETIC IN A HONDA AUTOCLUTCH BIKE! If you had an owners manual, you would find that GN4 (all petrolium) is the only oil Honda recommends. They do not list HP4 (a synthetic/petrolium blend) for any autoclutch bikes. Synth is OK for full manual (hand clutch) bikes, however.

Why is there always somebody pushing Amsoil????

Simple. Because independent lab testing consistently shows them to have the best lubricants available.

Just install your fav 10w40 oil and change it often and you will have no problems.

Walmart has some good 10w40 called super tech for 88 cents a quart
