Default ?s for you Honda wrenches. 250r engine into 300EX frame?

I can buy a 300EX complete with engine and starter troubles very cheap. I also know where a 250R trike is at that runs great and is priced reasonable. I was wondering if I could swap the trike motor in to the EX frame? I am not afraid of some welding or minor fabrication. I just am not really familar with either machine. I was just wondering if anyone had done this swap? I would like to have some insight on this before I buy either machine. The EX is a great deal... $150 for the whole bike with almost new tires..another frame..tires and wheels and plastic. any help appreaciated?

Yes, its very possible, but realistic? no. If it were me, i would buy the 300ex, rebuild it, and resell it at a huge profit, and if the atc250r is in good condition, id just buy it for myself, if the price was right.

i've done it! yes it is very possible. you will have to make new mounts to move the engine in the frame up 1 inch and back 1/4 inch(those are around the amounts) with that you will be able to use a normal 250r pipe. also, b/c its a atc 250r motor it will come with a straight intake, so you won't have to moddify that any at all. i used a trx250r big bore stroker motor and had to purchase an atc 250r intake to make it all work without mods to the frame itself. i also recomend using a air filter kit that gets rid of the airbox also. if you are using an aircooled trike than you won't have to worry about the placement of the radiator. if you have a liquid cooled, much like mine, than mount the radiator either behind, of in front of the steering stem. i hope that was of some help! if you need any more info pm me, and i'll give you my e-mail and anything else!

250xRKrider- You should put a picture up of your quad. I'd like to see it and I'm sure others would also.

I couldn't imagine that frame handling that power and speed.

Thanks for the input Guys! I know for sure I'm gonna buy the EX. I could part it out and make bucks if the engine is going to be to expensive to fix. The ATC engine was just an idea. It kinda sounds like it could be done but I'll check into it more before I buy it.
250xrkrider...I'll p.m. you when I get a little closer to starting this project.

THANKS AGAIN GUYS!!!

i'll get pics up once of mine once i get a new camera. acctually, if you gusset the frame in all the weak points, and do like i did with a +4 axle, 400ex a-arms, 400ex shocks, and lowering; the frame does damn good! mine is almost done. i'm just waiting foir the atc250r intake to come, and then i'll be done for now, untill i take it all apart again to PC all the parts!
