There are some Mennonites, who live North of me,who use their ATVs for farming. They use them much more than trucks. They average 8500+ miles per year on an ATV. That is over 20 miles per day, 365 days per year. I think that would kill a horse.
They use to run the 300 FourTrax and then when the Foreman 400 came out, upgraded to it. Then when the 450 Foreman came out, they went to it. Now, they are buying the Rubicons. I will be able to see how they hold up to this daily grind in the hot weather and let you know. The day I went to pick mine up, a man and his son were at the dealer to buy one for this use. As I was driving off, he ask to look at it (it was the first and only one there). He had driven in to town to look at the Rubicon and buy one. So, I stopped and let him ride it. It kinda made me feel bad to drive off knowing he needed one for his daily work and I was getting it for not so noble uses. Since then, he has been back and gotten one and several others have, too. But, I still don't think I could ride 8500 miles in a year.

Doc,
Your right ,thats a TON of miles for any ATV per yr.Are you certain he was telling the truth?Im not sure the 300 four trax even come with a speedometer,or did it?If it did'nt,how could he possible tell how many miles per day he was doing?I range around 2000-2500 per yr,and I thought that was alot.===Bill

Mennonites aren't likely to exaggerate, Bill; their life-styles involve low-profile egos. Given the fixed routine of farming operations, similar crops on fixed acerage, only one of the Mennonite farmer's quads needed an odometer to gauge the mileage rate for all the quads.

Considering the source and the circumstances, I don't doubt the mileage quoted; however, your own 2500 miles per year remains an impressive figure for recreational quad use.

A friend of mine bought a 300 2x4 Honda a month after I purchased my Foreman. He put on 25000kms in 18 months before he traded for the Rancher while I had only 6000kms. I thought I drove a lot. The good news is he never replaced a part on it exept right side rear bearing. Wow!

You guys are lucky! I have only 500 miles in 6 months up here in the North West & this is our "dry" time of the year. I hope to get a 1000.

The bad thing is soon the rain starts & then the trail riding turns into a cold mud fest...................

2000 miles a year is a lot but 8500, wow!

.....the 300 came with a speedo, and our meter over here

thats a lot of work!......you would wear a horse out!

drive em hard!
