I hate borrowing other folks ATV's. I ran a friends Rincon a little while. I used Reverse once getting out of the shop. Did not run it hard at all. Upon returning it would grind when I attempted to put it into reverse. I had to go into forward and pull it really fast to get it into reverse.
What do you guys think?

 

I'd start with cable adjustment.

 

Can you give me some guidance on how to, and where the adjustment is and what I have to do to get to it?

I had that problem with mine except it would grind going into drive and reverse. It just came back from the first service when it happened, they had the idle set to high. Maybe that might be it, if you have access to a tach hook it up and check it. If not just try to bump it down a little.

 

Get your cable adjusted properly and set idle speed. If that doesn't do it, a subtrans shift fork is probably bent.

 

Did you ever figure out the problem? I have the same thing happening when going into reverse but not drive.
