Default honda 450r broken frame- not happy

thanx, it doesn't exactly get hot at pismo tho. my main worry is when its like 60 degrees out and foggy and i'm tryin to cold start my bike. in the summer its more in the 70's but it can get fairly cold in the winter.

Up till now, all oils (that are not either JASO MB or transmission specific) represent a COMPROMISE, because they are made for bikes that have an integrated engine and transmission, that are forced to share the same oil. For me, the 450R is the DAWN OF A NEW ERA, where we don't have to compromise anymore and run "motor oil" in our transmissions, and we don't have to run "transmission compatible oils" in our engines. May God Bless Honda!

I run 10w-40 HP4M in the engine and 80W/85W in the trans... seems alot of people with 450rs are running this combo.

dude, i totally agree. i know people that can weld better than factory.

the problem is getting someone that knows how to do it right. nothing wrong with a weld - of course its welded to begin with, but it just shows that honda didnt want the cheap, easy way out to solve your problem; they wanted the best way to solve your problem. i wast just trying to salute them on that.
same here i have seen some welds on frames that look like they were done by someone who never touched a piece of welding equipment in their life. i believe a weld is stronger than just the metal alone. if u look on the 450 r one of the down tubes has a weld right in the middle of it.
if u race alot i think a cracked frame is something u r going to have to deal with from time to time

roughrider: how do u like those hyper wheels? they're the carbon fiber bead locks right? i've heard that those things are pretty much indestructable and incredibly light. were they worth the money? 800-900 bucks is a bit steep for wheels.
