Rancher Pics...

Hi . I like your rancher page. Good work. I am toying with getting a warn 424 and will use your page as a reference if and when I get one for my foreman. It is nice of you to take the time to add this type of thing to your page...
Thanks

Thanks all,
I never posted after I took my rancher in the woods after the 424 install. Just driving around the yard and street showed me what was in store. On the trails the machine is totally different. Gone is the solid sticking to the ground 4x4 feel in favor of a loosey goosey sport machine. Not that this is a bad thing but you can kick it sideways, slide, etc. BUT you have to be prepared for more attention or you could end up in trouble. I now keep mine in 2wd most of the time. I wouldn't change it back for nothing.
Another thought is I don't know how anyone could get away with a 2wd machine. Just hooking my little 4x8 trailer to haul some trash was interesting. The empty trailer on a simple sandy hill wouldn't make it up unless I had a good run going. Crawling up would get the tires spinning.
Probably done with the mods for a while.

Hi again. I too am curious as to what the installation time and difficulty will be. I am just starting to get comfortable working on my wheelers..would a relative novice like myself find the installation difficult..or is it something that is fairly straight forward. ?

Installing the 424 can be done by anyone IMO. The instrustions are pretty clear. Attaching the hold down was probably the most confusing looking at the instructions. But it was done. Hardest part is pulling the front diff forward enough to slip in the new piece. If I had some help it would have been no problem. Mounting the **** was a bit of a chore because of where I put it. Getting to the nuts behind the plastic took a few tries and some dropped nuts. Needed a magnetic picup to get a couple. I did it over a couple nights only work a bit at a time. Probable 90 minutes for the time. I was changing out some plastic so I had more room to work.
Some mentioned air to speed things up. That would help some but only a little. An air ratchet is more useful than a impack in this case.
I tried to find the instructions on the Warn site but they didn't post them. If I think about it I'll get my instructions and scan them them post.
