New to this, To choose between CVT, Semi-Auto, Manual
Well I'm new to all this and really want to get a Quad. I'm having trouble to decide what to get as far as a CVT, Semi-auto or a manual transmission ( it seems to me to be a bit of a pain to shift with a manual clutch and going over rough terrain at the same time ! ). I'm not looking at racing just good old trail and back yark bashing ( 20 Acres ). I'm an adult 5'7" @ 170Lbs and was wondering what size of engine or power would be suitable for my weight and return good performance. I was looking at the new RedCat FX-150 and the soon to be released RedCat FX-250 model. Aslo of interest are the Honda 250EX and Suzuki LTZ-250. Any comments on all of this ?

Get something bigger than a 250 4-stroke. Manual clutches are great if you know how to use them right, and I don't mean for shifting. Slipping them a little and being able to dump one is a great thing, but if you don't want to do that, then I would get an automatic tranny. You're always in the right gear and that's a wonderful thing. Auto clutch/manual shift are fine, but without the clutch to play with I don't see the point in one. I myself like Polaris Trailblazer 250s and the Trailboss 330s. They're around $3000 brand new, are full-sized, nice riding autos with a lot of ground clearance. I think they are the perfect trail quads.
