First is the quad stock? Second what gas are you running in it? Third How does your plug look? Fourth does it during normal running, at WOT, of pretty much all the time? Fith check out your air filter, what kind of shap is that in?

do you ever clean your air filter, and how long ago also could need timing chain adjustment and valves

Even in a stock motor I wouldn't run anything less than 93 octane. But if it does it at idle I wouldn't think the fuel is causing the prob. Have you ever adjusted the valves. does it sound like a ping caused by bad gas or like something loose in the motor.

i clean my airfilter after every long ride or every couple short rides. the gas is always good in it. and it sounds like something is loose in the motor. i adjusted the valves when the noise first started but did nothing.
