first mod. suggestions
#1
what should my first few mods be on my quad? *'02 400ex* so far all i have is new mudshark tires... and new front tires *dont know what kind* and a new bearring carrier in the rear swing arm cuz mine was F'd up...other than that... STOCK, so any suggestions are great, i'm looking for more power in the low/mid range, and if i can squeeze some speed in the top end.... while modifying the low/mid that'd be sweet too

Start with a good S/O (like HMF) along with a K&N with outerwares and remove the lid from the air box. I would then go with a Hotcams Stage 1 (if you can turn a wrench they're not that hard to put in). After these mods you have to properly jet the carb. For a stock motor it will run pretty good if properly jetted. Did I mention it has to be properly jetted?........

I always suggest that you protect yourself and the bike, before you even think about engine mods. Here is my list for any new bike, in the order that I do it, as my funds allow:
Nerf Bars.
Full chassis and swingarm skid plates.
Bumper.
Holeshot Tires (those stockers won't last long!) on ITP rims.
IMS Desert Fuel Tank.
Handlebars.
After that is done, you can move on to the engine:
Vented airbox lid (http://www.ehsracing.com/), UNI foam air filter (I avoid K&N), FMF Factory 4 complete exhaust (with quiet core and spark arrestor), and a rejet of course.
Sprockets and chain.
Suspension.
