bigger front tires on 400ex
Hello everyone, I wanted some advice on new front tires for my 04 400ex. I need new front tires and was looking at stepping up from a 22x7x10 which is stock to a 22x9x10. It is about 2" wider. I mainly do trail, hill climbs and go to the dunes, not much track at all. I am looking for better turning traction instead of plowing when trying to turn at higher speeds in loose dirt. Thanks for any feedback guys. Please let me know what size tires you tried and how they worked.

It you are running the stock Honda fronts then you will notice a big improvement with Holeshots or Razrs on the front. I can't help you with wider as I don't know anyone who has done it. Make sure it won't rub with the wheel fully turned though.
23" tires in the front will provide more bite though.

I use stock 400ex and 300ex fronts tires on my Cannondales and Hondas. They have been very good in sand, snow and trails. I never liked holeshots because of the ride ,fast wear, and square design that is great on hard pack but doesnt have floatation and cutting abilty in sand and snow. Maybe you just need new stockers with fresh tread. There is a reason Honda hss been using them for 20 years.

i ran 22x8x10 and they were much wider than stock. they were also taller. the main complaint i had about these is that they rode bumpy. the thinner ones ride smoother. i know this is not what you would think, but this is what i experienced. the wider ones also weigh more so your front end stays on the ground bettter when going up hills.
