how do you like YOUR 400EX?

I love my 400ex, But there is a one downfall of the 400, they are cold blooded (meaning they are hard to start when it gets in the negatives or single digits) maybe all fourwheelers are like this, but mine is the only one that does it around here. 400exs are the way to go.

The 400ex flies very good and it is one of the most stable bikes I have rode. And it isn't the most modern in the sport quad line up, but if can ride you will be able to keep up with anything. You can pick them up pretty cheap now a days. Probably a good one around 3 grand or so.

A friend of mine and I bought our 400EXs back in 2000, and still run and handle like the day we brought them home. One word, Awesome! I also have a '96 Blaster and just bought a 450R, gave the EX to the wife of course, but I still like riding it. In some cases I like riding the 400 over the 450. Ran motocross with it once, and ride trails a lot. Even though its a pretty outdated bike, I don't think I'd ever get rid of it.

ok thanks guys, but i dont think its going to have a hard time starting in the winter, because so far it hasnt gotten under 40 at night, and under 50 when i would even want to ride.

Rem,
The 400EX is bullet proof. I also believe that the 450R is bullet proof. If I were you, I would shop around for a good used 400EX, because they do last a long time. The suspension is OK in the whoops. I think a set of good aftermarket shocks would really help the EX out quite a bit, but for stock, the ones they come with are OK. The riding comfort is good. Of course, nothing compares to the riding comfort of the DS, which is the other quad I own. But, as far as the fun value, the EX is THE quad in my opinion for value, especially a used one.
Don't forget that you can also build the motor of the 400EX and still maintain 85% of its already huge bullet proof status. Im at 440 now and will be at 460 in two weeks.

cool, i really really wanna get a 400ex now, but i dont think i'd have enough money. i need to convince my dad to sell the blaster(he bought it for us so he says its his... grrr!!), then i need to get a newer 125 or 250, then i wanna get one. do you think i'll be able to find a 2000 or 2001 for about 2 grand? because this thing is just plain wimpy, and i think a 400ex would be an ideal backup. How much does it cost for a 440 kit? it wouldnt be the first on my list, but im just wondering, thanks! if anyone in southern AZ wants to sell their 400ex, or trade for a blaster /w cash, tell me!!

i just talked my dad into getting one for us after i get a new bike!! we are gonna sell the blaster, then spend some money and get one, provided i can sell the blaster for 1600, how much will we need?

A used 400 shouldn't sell for big monwy, because the newer models know have reverse and people do look at that, so it shouldn't be expensive. Good Luck!

u think we could find one for around 2300? cause thats the range we're lookin at. and the only reason i convinced my dad was that since we're selling the banshee, he wont have a sport quad to ride cause the blasters too small. So we're gonna sell the banshee and keep the money, then sell the blaster and get a 400ex for me and him to share if we can find a good one for under 2500, is this likely?
